now i signed a contract for 18 months before they changed hands and now i would like to leave...so can i

i have been given a mac code but i still have in excess of 12 months left of the contract ,can i still change supplier without paying the length of contract left ?

also worried about losing the email addy, according to customer support this will be discontinued ? if i set up a pop address will this work once it is dissconnected?

thanking you kindly..

Mark Baker (Ad'er) owns / runs it. Speak to them they usually can sort out / advise ISP changes very quicly and their service is ace.

This is a common legal question that I'd like to know the proper answer to, as I don't have a particularly good knowledge of law. I think an important consideration would be whether they are in breach of contract, e.g. if they have not provided the service at the speed advertised, or you have experienced downtime. Maybe a legal eagle here will be able to chip in?

Rgds

You signed a contract with company A... does that company still exist or is it now just known as company B? If the latter, then I would have thought that you no longer have a contract in place, but IANAL.

FWIW, I use Zen nowadays (used to be with Nildram until Tiscali got their mitts on it and it went downhill). I have three different accounts with Zen (work, home and holiday let) and have been pretty happy with them.

well upto now:

> charged twice for broadband two months continous
> when upgraded i was promised free wireless router (still waiting)
> increased price from £14.99 to £19.99 (advertised still at £14.99)
> speed has decreased from 6meg to 2meg (advertised upto 24meg)
> indian callcentre promised adsl filters to increase speed (still waiting)

the offers on their site are what i signed up for "pro" unlimited broadband

If those are all things that have been promised to you as part of their contract, then I think you have good grounds for getting out and defending your position if they should come chasing.

thank you for the replies i really appreciate it,does anybody know about email address,if i redirect it via pop address will it work even though the email address has discontinued ?

If you're talking about an ISP email address (e.g. [email protected] or [email protected] etc.) then yes you'll lose that as soon as your account is terminated and as it belongs to the ISP there's no way you can redirect it.

You might want to check that with them. We used to use @btconnect.com email addresses at work a few years ago. BT setup a redirect on all emails for free (we don't use bt for phone or internet anymore) and the redirects are still in place.

yes i did submit a support ticket,i received it yesterday (only took two weeks)

when my contract is terminated i shall lose my email addy unfortunately....

i rang both tiscali and talk talk last night and apparently i supposed to have the "pro" bundle which includes phone line, broadband, and free wireless router.

unfortunately i have individual packages that double the price so i am now receiving bills independant of each other and i now pay £19.99 for 1mb broadband per month...

so much for an upgrade
