    Isn't stocktrade a company?

You might want to have a look at the .co.uk.... or rather, you should have a look at the .co.uk

    and the trademark too :(

It could be... But doesn't "generic" rule apply in this case? If you check a G keyword tool there are many combinations including online, best, cheap...

Sorry to be a nuisance, but there is a uk trademark for "stocktrade"

That's a tough one to get around.

Thanks for your thoughts. In fact this is interesting discussion.

There is a clause in the law that says:

    4. Use of intended purpose s.11(2)(c)

There will be no infringement of a registered trade mark where it is necessary to use it to indicate the intended purpose of goods or services, provided it is in accordance with honest practice.

I am a bit lost...

I think you'd have trouble selling the domain.

Is it worth developing yourself? Well, that's for you to decide, but I'd guess there are less problematic fish to fry in your domain portfolio.

I'd take the hit (circa £7) on the chin and next time you go to register a .org.uk, have a look to see what's going on with the .co.uk ... even if it looks generic. Have a look at ipo.gov.uk too - it doesn't take long during their opening hours.

    cheers, Luke

Thanks Luke. I am not deleting it yet and want to find out a bit more about "descriptive trademarks". Otherwise if someone decides to trademark, let's say, onlinebanking ... then what is next. I've gained and lost quite a few of £7's so let me think about it ;)
