    Hi Guys,

We launched a website around 3 months ago which offers Free CSS and Premium flash templates and bla bla :) I need your honest reviews and critics on this website, here is the link

    http://www.templatesrule.com/

Please be specific on your feedback, although we are getting a great response by the visitors but we are still looking to improve it.

    Thanks

I would say it's very lame and very similar to ten or twenty I've seen selling exactly the same stuff under the guise of a free template site.

Obviously its an affiliate site so cant be unique. you cannot create hundreds of templates yourself. but i need to know about its usability and flow

The biggest problem that I see is that the taxonomy will probably not be adequate as the site grows. Notice that Themeforest has a second level taxonomy structure which I find useful when searching for themes on their site. Other than that, I think the site serves its purpose.

    Hope this helps,
    Rich

Sorry, doesn't do a lot for me. Not being harsh, but I'll tell you what I don't like. (I am trying to be helpful)

Cream colour background - I avoid it like the plague
Logo at the top of the page - weak - wrong fonts to work together, RULE in wrong colour pink.
Not sure the pink and burgundy colours work well together - pink = vibrant, burgundy = conservative.
To keep your visitors at the site when you are selling templates, the site itself has to be excellent. It's a crowded niche and your site needs to stand out as excellent.

Thanks for the productive critic. We will surely work on it, can you suggest a better color combination? i dont want to go for blue

Difficult to say - it's not just about colour but the shade as well.
Difficult to be contemporary but without just following the pack.

I quite like grey with orange and green in the right shades, but get the wrong shades and it's awful.

Here's another idea - a bit off the wall but it might spark off something that works for you.

You're called templatesrule. Why not use this to stand out from the crowd. Have a section quite prominently positioned, called "our reigning template" - ie most downloaded, and then show 2 or 3 other popular templates in that section too. Something a little different might justdraw people in to stay on your site. - a bit random - but as I say it might spark some other ideas for you.

Thank vizzo, i also like grey with green and orange but at this stage revamping the whole website is not easy I think, for the time being we can just replace pink with something else, not sure what else, we will try some other shades, can you suggest any better color/shade that can work better with burgundy? we will definitely revise the whole design but after some time.

and about the featured templates idea: we launched the website with that same idea, we had a jQuery gallery with horizontal expand collapse effect, right under the navigation, i personally liked that thing but we couldnt attract the customer's attention with it. but we will surely think to come up with more refined idea to add some interactivity in the website. Thanks for your great suggestions :)
