Be interested to hear what people thought Cameras.org.uk was worth.

Not sure you will get much of an answer while it is up for auction!

Great name but competition for it in the SERPS looks really tough, especially with the .co.uk well developed

Cheers. I guess those not interested in bidding can comment :)

I actually spoke to the guy who owns the co.uk a couple of months ago about buying it. He only wants £750,000 +VAT. Hmmm.

I imagine you may get £350 to £500 for the .org.uk perhaps.

It's got to be worth more than that surely? if you applied a 5% of the .co.uk value rule based on those figures, that's like saying cameras_co_uk is worth £7,000 - £10,000, which would be madness I'm sure you'll agree.

I've never been a proponent of the oft-repeated 5% rule. At 1% you'd be talking about 35k-50k for the .co.uk (the singular sold for £21k in 2008)

I would guess bidding would go above £1500

Ty's come out of hiding :D
    http://domainlore.co.uk/cameras.org.uk

great domain. has to sell in x,xxx range and will be a great addition to someones portfolio

it also has the added advantage of the .co.uk being completely tied up or a crazy price to buy which ADDS value to the .org.uk imho
also is the plural, which is the best, and is the TIMELESS GENERIC, master category one worder

even digital cameras weill be something else and outdated in future but cameras will always be here
whilst we're on that you get as many sub domains when you have the daddy category
    cheap.cameras
    digital.cameras
    nikon.cameras
    etc

    good luck

Going by the strength of other recently sold generic org.uk's this could do pretty well. I've punted a bid on it in any case as it has huge potential.

    Good luck, lovecraft :D

My personal opinion is category killer generic .org.uk's are still massively undervalued. Type "rings" into Google.co.uk and see what comes up first. And look who they're beating. The site is 12 months old.

    Cheers,

    Ed

I'm curious to see what it will go for, so I'll be keeping an eye of the auction today. Maybe £1200 - £1800 kind of range. It's a great name!

I agree it's a bargain. Fair play to the buyer. The domain name market and more broadly the economy deffo doesn't favour the seller right now.

Why didnt anyone bid higher if it was a bargain?

If something was a steal I would try and raise funds to buy it as its free cash.
