      Isn't the correct spelling for this airport "Stansted" ?

      Yes, you're right. It is.

      However, Stanstead is a very common misspelling. If you ask people, at least 50% will spell it wrong - try it :)

      To put things in perspective, we have another domain name with the word Stanstead in it as a misspelling and have made several thousand pounds in type-in traffic to it.

      Yes, true. It can be confusing for people because other similar place names are spelt with an 'e' (e.g. Hampstead).

      This top domain name is still for sale and we're willing to offer it at a reduced price.
