Hey all, my name's Django and I write about SEO for an IM agency (or I write about what the agency sells as SEO...I know I've already sold my soul :( ) Been doing it for about a year now after graduating, and in the past couple of months I've been experimenting with my own domains, so rather than writing about other people's postulations on SEO, I can come out with some of my own...they might be nonsense, but you can't blame a guy for trying.

Anyway, I've been loitering in a number of forums anonymously for a while now and thought it's probably time I start engaging with the experts…just to warn you, by engaging I mean asking horrendously broad and naïve questions. I'm only joking, but really if I do that, apologies in advance.

I imagine my domain history is a lot shorter than the rest of you guys, but my worst domain was probably a website set up as part of a 'rank-the-highest' competition for a medium competition food-based keyword. (It was the first website I ever set up, so that's my excuse for it being awful!)
My most successful domain is a personal blog site I run in order to raise money for a charity. I guess technically speaking it's the first site I've tried to monetize, but obviously not for me, it's for the charity!

Anyway, apologies for that unnecessarily long introduction, hopefully my future posts will be a lot more succinct :)…nice to meet you all anyway!

Oh dear...I guess this is the bit where I lose what little dignity I have:

    worst: pizza-diary.co.uk

    marginally better: twoidiots-onemarathon.com

...go easy on me, I'm pretty much the definition of a novice!

Try to avoid hyphens in general mate unless the keywords are good.

Appreciate the advice, thanks :) In hindsight I wouldn't pick either of these domain names again, but in future I'll try to avoid the hyphens.

    Welcome django

By the way django/me/uk is available if you were interested ;)

Always looking out for domain names!

Unfortunately all other extensions are gone.
