I had this booked for catching, was scheduled to drop on Jul 14th, I just happened to check it now and it must have been cancelled early by the previous owner, as it was sitting there unregged.

It has 1,000 local exacts, I don't normally pay much attention to broad numbers but, the broad local numbers are a massive 30.4 million, so there would be a lot of longtail searches there to seo it for. I think it's a good short name and could be made in to a nice site by the right person/people, also has options for sub domains like sport.ontv.co.uk, films.ontv.co.uk etc, any thoughts on value?

Or how about a tv links site similar to the one that English bloke is being extradited over?

I've never heard of Zeebox before, had a look and it's some sort of app that tells you what TV programme you're watching, and what programme your friends are watching:

Have to add an edit to this as I think that Zeebox app is pointless (for me anyway):

1) It knows what you're watching, right now.

Wow, ermmm I already know what I'm watching.

2) Not only that, it shows you what your friends are watching.

I couldn't give a monkies what someone else is watching.

3) It can give you more information about what you're watching, instantly.

I already know what I'm watching, my TV remote tells me that, why the need for an app to tell me the same thing worded differently.

4) It lets you buy and download relevant stuff.

Like what? I don't pay to download stuff online.

5) It can tell you what shows are most popular, in real-time.

I don't purposely watch popular shows and have no interest in knowing what IT considers popular, I watch what I want, not what is suggested to me.

If I want to watch a programme, I don't need my laptop on to tell me needless things about it, I can see that by watching the bloody TV, and I don't want to be interrupted whilst watching to look at some bloody app :roll:

Maybe I'm just old fashioned, I don't have a mobile phone and I don't use apps of any sort on my computer.

I agree with you but a lot of people like to follow and watch what is "popular" and talk about it at work. They also like to have a nosey into what their friends are watching, I guess it's the big brother culture. I don't really get Facebook either, I go on it very occasionally and use it to contact some of my ex Royal Navy mates but I couldn't give a monkeys if Dave is just "making a cup of tea" or that Jane got "slightly wet when taking the dogs out for a walk".

Hehehe, Systreg made me laugh there. I completely agree with everything he said, but he is also assuming people are generally sensible and level headed. Actually, there are people who watch programmes like "Friends", "My Gypsy Wedding", "Big Brother", "The Bold And The Beautiful".

These people are fundamentally thick, so they'd probably be delighted to sit on the couch knowing that their friend Charlene or Destiny is watching the Jeremy Kyle Show at the same time as them. I'm not sure about the extra information though, studies show these people can only absorb so much at once.

I don't watch much TV either, just certain things like horse racing, cycling, football, The Walking Dead and the odd film, all on terrestrial/freesat TV, I don't have Sky.

I remember those big battery packs, a mate was a bit of a jack the lad about 25 years ago and had to have one, he used to lug this big heavy battery around with him all day, how things have changed.

As above posted by Mojoco, how is my domain suitable for a clothes site, I thought by the name that "as seen on screen" would be a TV site, when they actually sell clothes, am I missing something?

That's the thing though, if you were to make a site by taking off the stuff that annoys, there would be nothing on the site, it's not something I would pursue anyway, I've got no skills for making sites.

You only have to look at the digitalspy forums to see how seriously a lot of people (consumers) take TV - even going so far as to quote trends (even figures) for the most watched TV shows over the past couple of years and how they compare to others from years ago. It's quite scary.

Lot of potential for this one as a rival to digitalspy, perhaps a jazzed up wiki-style site with a twist, some kind of news/gossip site or even some kind of comparison site if you can get access to the figures. Huge for advertising revenue on sheer volume.

Definitely, and I would prefer to use a site like Digital Spy with loads of chat, rather than an app site like ZeeBox, having said that, I can imagine a lot of the Digital Spy members also use apps like ZeeBox.

Hadn't really looked at that site properly before, I was surprised to see that Digital Spy was a .co.uk domain, I assumed it would be a .com site, they've got 465,528 members on the forum chatting about UK TV programmes like X-Factor, Big Brother and The Voice etc, and the site has over 7 million unique visitors, great figures for generating Adsense and advertising revenue.

I agree the domain it's got good potential for anyone wanting to develop the domain, it's not something I could do, for a start, the site would probably cost me a fortune to be made, then there are probably dozens of in house people needing to be paid for all the TV and news articles on the site, total non starter for me on my own as I hate writing, I can't even be bothered to write a few hundred words for my current sites that I start and then leave with nothing on them, I get bored very quickly.

Not sure what you mean by a wiki style site, like a clone of Wikipedia? Not sure how that would work or what would go on the site. Sorry Blossom, I don't get the comparison site option either, compare what?

Kind of like Wikipedia, but a more attractive version, UK-specific, and just focusing on actors/actresses, characters, shows and channels (I say 'just'!). So each person/show etc. would have its own specific page with facts, latest related news/gossip, latest related forum posts, a photo gallery, maybe stats in a visual graph form if practical. Kind of like Wikipedia meets IMDB but just for the UK, and with more of a forum-focus. Makes it a different approach to DigitalSpy.

Comparison site - stacking channels/shows/people up against each other - popularity-wise in terms of polls you could run, but also in terms of stats such as highest paid, on the most number of shows, longest career etc. Think it would be be harder to pull off as would need some more in the way of creativity/longevity to keep people coming back. I guess social interaction would help.

Only ideas off the top of my head, sorry if they aren't much good to you - perhaps useful for pitching to an end-user though. DigitalSpy def. shows the potential.

Yes, I suppose anyone could take the good bits from the likes of Wikipedia, IMDB and Digital Spy, and anything else that someone thinks might work, loads of options for it anyway, I've just put the domain on Sedo for now.

Andy, I did see something about that on another site when I was looking around, I was thinking be.ontv.co.uk as a sub domain but, I thought it was a bit limited as there's only so many TV programmes looking for people at any one time, and I though earning potential could be limited with that, but as part of a bigger site it would be a good section to have.
