WOW.

That's a crazy price in comparison to some recent sales. Particularly for a month-old catch.

Congrats to the seller!

Wow I am really surprised by this price as well. Domaining never ceases to amaze me!

A massive congratulations to the seller. What a price!

If you want to sell wine online then that's one of the best domains imho..

What recent sales are you comparing it to?

Nice sale, slightly at the high end of what I would have expected it to fetch on DomainLore. Congrats to both parties.

Fabulous domain for the industry, price on the low side if it's the end user who bought it, probably value it at 5 to 10k

I think that what some people don't appreciate is the value of industry exact domains.
If a business owns "WineCellar co uk" then business name recall should never again be a problem and that's something that normally costs a fortune in advertising awareness.
Some in our industry make the whole business of domain names so complicated that the basic fundamentals are completely overlooked, not so much in the U.S and Germany.
SEO is always going to be a moving target but a good exact industry domain will provide continuous value.

It's a great name (and very versatile within its sector) The shock is in seeing it sold at this price on domainlore.

There's not one of us that hasn't overlooked a domain or two. But i do wonder how someone let that one drop ?

Auctions are all about interest though.

Only last two bidders pushed from £1,800 to £4,700. On a different day it could have been a < £2k end price

They are all about interest and putting in the hours creating that interest, which the seller has done by contacting end users.

Great names do sell themselves, but this is an example on how to push that sale price a little bit further.

Good on the seller if that's how they helped achieve a very nice price, especially for such a recent catch. I didn't imagine it would sell so high, but it just shows if you can get the attention of end users and throw them into the mix that auctions can really take off on DL where usually it's just resellers trying to grab a bargain.

I agree, the value is in the domain being a nice name and in the wine market it help's to stand out with a good quality, memorable name like this.

If you want to sell wine online I'd say "OnlineWines.co.uk" would be pretty good too - hint hint at a fraction of the cost :p

Congratulations to the cellar (pardon the pun) and buyer. With 66 companies in GB using the words 'Wine Cellar' in their name I too am very suprised it dropped.

OnlineWineMerchant.co.uk could prove useful too :) BG : and for just £30!

Really wanted this name, had it booked with quite a few catchers.

The domain has an history dating back to somewhere in 1996 if I remember it correctly and has a lot of backlinks from wine related sites.

Had the idea to build a dropship/affiliate webshop on it.

I liked the domain but I didn't like it that much that I would pay £4700 for it :)

For those what missed out, we have Winery.co.uk for sale, PM offers :D
