We registered this domain and built a siteon it for a specific campaign. The campaign's finished now (it was a success) and the domain is now redundant.

Any views on the domain's potential value? It's PR4 and has a nice list of backlinks.

Thanks in advance,

Dan

Valuing it on SEO/backlinks alone, probably £150-£200.

Looking at it from an SEO stand point for it's links I would value it at 0.

If you get offered the above price rip their hand off.

Thanks, that's interesting. Can you expand a wee bit please?

I've always thought page rank and backlinks are important external SEO factors, so why are they completely worthless in this case?

No all links are made equal and pagerank is only an indication of quality and a million miles from a guarantee.

I could only find a dozen or so links to your site, none seemed to have anything to do with the site and/or were links from link pages.

To me it's value is 0 because I know better, but there are many people who don't know better who would probably buy it for £50.

Okay, thanks. I understand your analysis but don't agree with your assessment of the backlinks - links from Ordnance Survey, TGO Magazine, Walking Places, OWPG, OSS (and possibly others) are bang on relevant to the site's subject, and all have multiple links from news, articles or forum pages.

Your valuation of 0 is based on there being no relevant backlinks, and backlinks from poor source pages - maybe those who might pay £50 would have done a little more research? Not having a go, just trying to make sure I understand why this domain might be worthless based on the facts.

Ok, maybe a couple of links are alright I will give you that, but a couple of alright links aren't going to move anything.

Domains with better links drop everyday that nobody bothers catching; If I could be selling them for £150-200 maybe I've been a idiot lol.

Lol, fair enough. If I do sell it I'll drop you a PM and we can talk about working together. ;)

Thanks for the insight.

Yep, that's what PR4 domains go for on Acorn. Slightly low, if anything. If it were an extension supported by Godaddy auctions you could have listed it there and it would have sold for more.

If I bought this domain for £150 today, I would make at least double that on it within a month...but then it suits my existing business model.

The problem is supply and demand - there are lots of this type of level of domain around, which is why I personally wouldn't buy it. It's also quite a niche audience; you want people buying for SEO properties who know how to make it into an asset, not your typical end user or domainer.
