Sedo - all time low for me

Been with Sedo almost from the start. Just doing my quarterly VAT and for the first time in a quarter not a single domain sale generated via Sedo. Probably at the peak I was selling at least 1 per week and with a much smaller portfolio. Seems like passive selling on platforms such as Sedo has died a death (at least for .co.uk).

 

Not for me. Using DomainNameSales.com. Zero commission, full transparency on the leads right down to the IP address of the inquiry.

 

Thanks - got a few on there also and had a couple of sales. Does your comment apply to UK sales or other extensions or both?

Mainly .co.uk as that is the bulk of my portfolio (20,000).

Put everything you have over to DNS for a couple of months then report back. I would never use Sedo or Afternic again.

 

Is the deal with DomainNameSales.com that they get parking revenue share and don't therefore make any money on brokering a sale?

They have a $500 minimum payout threshold I notice.

 

A small percentage. It's about selling inventory, don't be reliant on the parking revenue.

You broker and deal with your own leads.

 

One of the better buying selling ones out there atm if approaching end users development is not your thing? From a buying perspective its hands down transaction and negotiation seem a breeze compared to sedo.

Pricing competitive for com when compared to sedo maybe because many on sedo have been there so many years left and forgotten or the market in general, atm realistic (well most) co/uk too (I suspect a lot to do with non uk core domainers rethinking in light of recent uk activity.) Good bread and butter names although sure as more use it prices will creep up more crap will be posted creating stagnation much like sedo...

 

lol I've just had a look at the domainnamesales.com's web site, and its a .co.uk squatters dream, the list that scrolls across the top showing domains that have had recent enquiries is great to see. A .co.uk that just went past is owned by you garth.

Very slick easy to use site.

Any others out there?

well thanks for cheering me up guys. I'm just in the process of posting all my domains on Sedo, 150 done and about 700 to go. haven't listed my dotcoms yet, gonna nail down all the relevant US TM's and dates, before they get to see the light of day

 

Not to late to back out. Think about it Sedo keeps your leads, your selling blind.

 

For me, selling on Sedo is not that profitable. The showcase listing is very expensive, and Sedo would get at least $50 for commission. Do you have a tip on selling on Sedo?

 

It's interesting, you can see by the recent drop lists that over the last couple of years one of the reasons people were not buying quality domains in the secondary market was that they were registering any set of letters that made up english words and were not detered by the length or the meaning. What has been an absolute boon for nominet has been a disaster for registrants and portfolio owners of quality domains.
I don't think this has happened in other European countries.

 

I've sold a .com to a German user via Sedo last month. The others have all been low offers which would leave me with nothing after Sedo's fees. Unlike you guys, I've been getting more activity.
