Has anyone else noticed there stats are well down ? or is it just me and why is this.

Yes, I am at 43% of where I was for the same period last month :( I was assuming that it was just me and was down to the slightly randomness of clicks. I still think is is that but if lots of people report the same I'd be puzzled. I only have a small income from ND though, $134 in total last month, so I am certaionly not representative.

All the Google fed sites are way down ATM. The usual summer blues, I guess, which don't seem to go away untill the kids are back at school & the big kids are back at Uni.
I was surprised that Sedo made such major changes to their feed at a time when PPC rates have historically been weak. Perhaps they thought any downside would be limited.

How wrong they were :(

I have a theory (Ed?) that Google have tinkered with things too. Why?...well, pick a popular high paying keyword, like "insurance" & take a look at Google's suggested average bid price for a top three placing.
Next visit Google.co.uk, search for "insurance" & note the advertisers & their position (including the high paying "blue stripe ads at the top").
Now do the same thing on a Google sponsored parking page & note the advertisers again.

Finally compare what you are paid with the top bids :(

It would appear that for many top paying keywords Google are keeping the expensive ads for themselves & showing the low bid ads to their partners pages.

I don't expect this is true for every keyword, but it certainly seems to be the case for popular keywords for which they have plenty of searches on their own site.

Of course they might argue that those high paying advertisers deserve the "best" natural traffic & that this is search engine traffic direct from Google's own sites, but that is little consolation to anybody getting 5 cents a click for their parked credit card domain!

It's just a theory & could be tosh. Hopefully next month will prove me wrong. The supermarkets are filling up with Quality Street as I type. :p

Hi guys,

I'm not going to stay away from anything about low PPC this month as others have. Many of you have come to me privately about this and it has been pretty much the same story. PPC has been poor this month and I have heard that it has been the same across all Google sites - I don't know about Yahoo. We noticed a slowdown on the system which clearly began on September 1st. Fri-Sun this weekend were actually the strongest days of the month so far, so we can begin to hope that things could be picking up again. I actually thought that September would be beginning of the fun times, but it seems that Google are pooping the party for another month before things should get better in the autumn months.
We have lengthy conversations with Google and they have informed us that it is a "September thing" which suggests that an "October thing" may be something to look forward to. We are doing all we can so that it's us that feels the pinch and not you, but there are clearly only certian margins which can be squeezed.

We're hoping that the lean times will be behind us soon. I know September has not exactly looked impressive.

If you have any questions about your account specifically, I'll be happy to answer anything I can.

I must be the lucky one as i have not seen any real slow down this month in comparison to last month in terms of revenue infact it looks like I might do a fair amount better than last month.

i wouldn't expect much next month either - what happens in october??

after halloween in november the action starts i'd be looking for a serious pick up after that with a big push at christmas prelonged by january sales. This year will definetly be last minute christmas sales = which means good ppc trying to drag out the bumper sales period.

well i hope so anyway!

I don't know about Yahoo. We noticed a slowdown on the system which clearly began on September 1st.

Ed,

Yahoo has been picking up after an "August thing" & is doing pretty well right now.

For the time being I'm sticking with the conspiracy theory!

infamy, infamy...they've all got it in for me :)

how do you get to use yahoo? and is there any arking sites that use yahoo.

Well, as I was saying to Paullas yesterday, September comes at a time when people have been on holiday so have no money, people still go away for the weekend in the nice weather so aren't clicking on ads, there are no public holidays, Christmas is still a long way off. I suppose it makes more or less sense that it is a fallow month. Pure conjecture, of course.
October has halloween - which the US spends over 5 billion dollars on a year, ridiculously-enough, nights getting longer, Christmas getting closer, Ed's birthday etc. Autumn is generally the strongest time for parking, so I would hope to see things pick up. The last 3-4 days do seem to have picked up a bit, certainly over last week, so we can hope this is a trend.
Can't we all just be like DJRH? :)
Maybe advertisers are just saving up for a massive blowout in the following months.
Perhaps. Google are still by far the largest online advertising partner in the world and I'm convinced that the prices will come up soon as business picks up a bit.

Hmm. Interesting link. I wonder if Yahoo are using this to hide the fact that they were expecting PPC to drop across the board anyway.
They seem to me to have had very poor returns for advertisers for a long time - essentially allowing hundreds of clicks from a single IP on high-paying (e.g. finance and car) ads. This has led to massive, unchecked fraud on their system which will surely come back to haunt them. There is, clearly, a large amount of fraud on the Google system, but they seem to be way ahead of Yahoo in monitoring it. People have been saying for some time that Yahoo could be heading for a fall with their policies. I wouldn't have thought that a slowdown in the motor industry could lead to a general downward trend across their whole system unless they were expecting that anyway. Maybe Google were expecting this news and dropped their prices accordingly.
Conspiracy theories unite.

Yahoo shares fell 11%
Google shares fell 4%

That's a surprisingly big drop. A mini PPC market crash?

If you have zillions of hits you can partner direct with Yahoo.

Otherwise try parked.com ( Parked.com - What is Parked.com ) but be prepared to allow a couple of weeks for full optimization, which Yahoo do themselves manually for .UK domains at the moment.

I think skenzo use Yahoo too, but require 1 million uv/month, but you can try them through trafficclub.com or klickerz.com

As usual, some domains will perform better & some worse than with other services.

Stats down - rate of decline

Well my stats are so so far down I was wondering if my domains were still working! Of course, I accept this is seasonal, I just haven't been in this game long enough to know just HOW seasonal it is!

My best months earnings was JULY.

August was 78% of JULY
September forecast is 53% of JULY

Is this in line with everyone else? These percentages are $ EARNINGS, not traffic stats.

Cheers!

We've seen a good upturn recently. Yesterday was our highest day on the system this month, so hopefully things are moving in the right direction...

Come one Christmas...

I'm sitting opposite the designer now as he's mocking it up. It normally takes around 48 hours to get done, so I would expect by Monday or Tuesday.
Internet and shopping are ready to be put online by tech, so they should be up soonish too.
