LLL UK domains

The primary value was in the three letter aberration of a company. Buy reseller price at £400-£500 and an end buyer will pay at least double that.

Over the many years these were plugged and promoted to end users, and a lot sold.

Given the fact what's left hasn't sold in probably 7-10 years+ and a much slimmer chance of selling.

Also there's a recent influx of brandable one word company names. Less new companies with three word plus business names that see an association with a LLL

Can only think the buyers are not selling, demand has dropped and so has the reseller prices

Hmm a lot are drops though so have been registered since the 90s, so this would go out of the window for them

Just wanted to spark some discussion on this forum about specific domain values. This forum is practically dead now! :D

Only joshing Dave - was a good reasonable summary - I think something went click in my brain.

As for this forum being dead - I've been here almost a couple of years, haven't seen too much decline myself. Did it used to be a lot busier?

Anyone...? ;)

True but it's going to depend on volume.

When there's many LLLs on the market selling, it won't take many nice sales to push up prices for speculating buyers.

Once the numbers go, and sales less publicized, a smaller number of drops (even though are still eligible for end users) won't see the same return in reseller price as the 'gold rush days'

I'd be a buyer if I can see an immediate company - or if the three letters end in l (ltd), a (associates) etc....

.....but if I see a 3 letter for sale now, my immediate thoughts would be to ask how many times this names been round the block, and part of a sales email/letter/call to any potentially relevant company.

Guess others may share same concerns (?)

I have made a fair few mid ££££ sales on LLL in the past and continue to makes sales now.

I have always looked on LLL as like a bond. If I pay £200 for one, I know that if the wolf is ever at the door, I can sell them on for what I paid for them, or a small profit at a moments notice. When they are in my control though, there is always the chance of a sale.

Good point, money in the bank isn't going to do anything for you.

I think this is what used to prop up the "trade" values for LLL, which used to be £500 - £1,000 between domainers. Now those holding domain portfolios are struggling, they are no longer so willing to buy, and the floor has fallen to around £200 as you said.

That's not to say the floor couldn't fall more of course.

Last year, every single lll.co.uk had a pre-bid on DL - not the case any more as only premium lll.co.uk's get them now..
