Hi all,
I am looking for lighthearted and fun stories relating to your own experiences as a domainer for the first issue of Domain Focus Magazine. The best entry will be awarded a cash prize!
Thanks in advance.
I would put money on your first thought - "How much is the prize?"
:pPost and I will reveal.

I cannot believe there are no fun stories out there...

Prove me wrong guys. Where's the fun side of life...
What tit-bits and stories would you like to share?

A story for the prize....

In the early, dark, early x25, 4k days of the internet, we had the chance of registering a very, very famous single word DN.... we had in fact already spent a lot back then on what are classed as "generic tld's" today, the DN in question, had in fact, been in our eyes, over looked for anyone to register it.... so we took the bull by the horns and paid out for the said DN....

A few years on and the internet was gathering pace.... 1200k modems and all that jazz.... we could not afford some college fee's so our DN's had to go.... $850.00 was a lot for poor us....

A few more years on and the internet was in full swing.... the above DN (sold under a privacy agreement by the way!) was getting busy and we were studying hard.... not really funny yet hey!

In the early 2000's the same DN sold for $xx,xxx, xxx .... now we hear you all laughing at us!

But hey thats the internet! (yes it is a true story!)

That's Finger Licking Good MXM

Lovenit MXM you may well be the prize winner...
As the first post I will tell you that if your story is judged to be the best, and at the moment you have the head start of a giraffe, a £50 note (real one)! will be on it's way to you.

funny story

Some guy jumped into a forum
said was going to do a story on domainers.
he told the domainers what the project was and some domainer grabbed the name.

Thats what domaining is all about.
if your not first your last.
so the lesson must be before you open you mouth to anyone make sure you have the name registered.

you can post my fifty pound to domainers welfare fund or buy everyone in this forum 2 mars bars.1 packet cheese and onion crisps. and one walnutwip.
ps i have pet cat and he just shouted 1 tin whiskers(chicken flavor);)

I like the stories...

We're going to have to get a panel of judges for this competition! Thanks for the stories.:p Keep them coming..

And if concerns the old modem days, make sure it relates to a C64 with a 300 baud 'teletype' mod/demod :)

im sure this has happened to a few :)

Last year i spent hours thinking of a domain for a project i thought was a good one, so typed said domain name in browser and was blank, sent an email to info@ sales@ webmaster@ asking is the domain for sale. 10 minutes later i got the emails as i owned it :)

Lesson is check whois or the domains you own before jumping the gun...

drunk domainer

A drunk domainer
picks up his phone and calls his bud a Cxxt
he then drops the phone picks it up again and calls his bud a cxxt again.
3 times this goes on and each time the drunk domainer called his bud an Cxxt.
and called other fellow domainers Cxxts also
Now the moral of the story

Dont drink and Call you never know who listing or recording

You can now listen soon to the tape recording on www.davidbrayshaw.co.uk
just sorting out the files and website.
