Hi Everyone

My company own some nice brandable domains & we are possibly looking at trying something a little bit different with one of our top domains;

( Gossip.co.uk )

Instead of developing this one ourselves or just paying a company, we are interested in finding a partner who would like to help develop the below idea further.

My ultimate aim with the brand is to create a vital/entertainment brand similar to the work done by brands such as Theladbible / Unilad etc with an emphasis being focused more towards social media interaction such as building Facebook/Twitter likes/followers. ( & I'm not meaning just buying 50,000 fake ones for £10) haha

At this stage, it's still a fairly new idea that we are considering & it might not be possible if our aims/needs are really apart, but it's something a little different & I thought it would be good to see the level of interest before we decide our next move.

I know we have many people out there with the skills & indeed the time, but maybe not the funds to start up this from his/her own pocket, or the risks involved. But this way could allow you to become possible owners in a top domain with zero financial risk.

I think the initial idea would be to pay someone a figure (based on the time they are working with this) & depending on success we could consider also allowing them to become % owners of the overall project including the domain etc.. All of which could be agreed in contract.

Anyway, if you have any experience in social media or examples of work done & believe something like this might be of interest please send me a message by PM. Experience isn't essential if you have the right passion, drive & commitment.

I will aim to respond as soon as possible, but please allow a little time if we get a high number of people interested.

Many Thanks,
Martin

Really nice domain, but you will still need a very strong team behind it. Following are some of things you need to add in your strategy.

Use SemRush, Buzzsumo and Ahrefs to develop content strategy and find what competitors are doing.

Target 3 dimensions,

1. Google news: Celebrity and fashion news. You will need about 6 to 10 writers to get listed. Find trending topics and write around them.

2. Ever green content: Use above mentioned tools and comeup with 300 to 500 topic ideas, get them written professionally. Build really good strong links to get this content rank.

3. Create a segment on your site that has potential to work well with social media, not all content will work well with social media. Build a brand, you will have to purchase FB likes, I would say spending about 5 to 10 grands on getting real genuine likes can translate into 100s of thousands of pounds in return. Social has potential to outperform search traffic by large margin. If you can invest, develop a platform where you pay FB page owners to deliver you traffic.

That is all I could think from top of my head, based on all the experience I have with seo tools, ever green content, great links and social media influence.

Don't go into celebrity gossip, the rampant law suits and legal threats ain't worth it in the UK. Perez and the likes get away with it under freedom of speech and such but in the UK its stress!

What you are trying to achieve can be done with any domain, as the domain is very unimportant for this type of concept / traffic building.

There are only really two types of "gossip" that generate any real traffic - celebrity and sport. Both of which are pretty heavy with competition.

But gossip.co.uk might make a great memorable brand for a bingo/chat type site if you went a different route?

Thanks for all the comments/suggestions guys, very useful & noted.

Yes, short term agreed. But when you have thousands of engaged users/followers it'll be much easier to bring in the physical website in the future

Very true, cheers for the comment. Could be a possible angle. But tbh when we owned casino affiliate sites we found bingo to be the lowest in terms of commission by some distance. (Maybe just me)

True enough, but I don't see a casino called "gossip" hitting the right note!

I wasn't suggesting you be an affiliate either - I'd think bigger :)

Haha, yeh agreed. casino wouldnt be an option.

But yeh, okay fair enough. Thinking bigger is what we like :)
