Are all catch services just a front?

Blossom I looked for quotation button on here, and can't see it, and does actually say who's it's from in the actual paragraph.

I won't be naming any other sources as that's just fodder for some to question the sources to a legitimate question, as opposed to answering said legitimate question. And not interested in veering off on those tangents so posted from a web everyone at least has heard of. Self interest or not it's a legitimate point being made.

Not sure how long you've been in the domain game But, Welcome to the real world.. As Grant has mentioned - The drop-lists are mostly out there for all to see..

Next you'll be blaming those that live a stones-throw from Nominets servers for having an unfair advantage (which evidently they do have)

I want them all for myself :)

Characteristics of a cartel in an economic sense. Small pool at the top keep it nice and sweet for themselves. Add a bit of wisdom of the crowds theory, and no wonder the UK domaineering cake isn't growing at the rate one would expect. A full transparent system with I dare say a bit of ethics thrown and call me an idealist a bit of fair competition chucked in too achievable only by full disclosure on the part of service providers, would encourage more people to participate, leading to a bigger cake.

So basically UK domaineering has managed in the last two decades to align itself to the same principles that exist offline that the internet is meant to be countering. Land owners and the serfs. Great.

Sorry but who am I blaming for what exactly, i'm ENQUIRING, or the two words mean the same thing to you. I've never even used a drop service before so again who am i 'blaming' mate. What makes you think I particularly care one way or another. Or is it you actually object to me enquiring. Who says I won't be doing the same thing myself 6 months from now. Alot of people here appear to like attacking people just because a person dares to ask questions for their own benefit and enhanced wisdom on these issues. Is this thread going to cost you money down the road or something Bailey?

And regarding your point about Nominet servers it's worth pointing out the new armies of Forex hopefuls are entitled to be made aware of the servers and distances thing, but it's never disclosed. Not right in my view.

Does ask on this thread if anyone has ever caught a high value domain, that's what i'm interested in. Has it ever actually happened. The answer to that question answers my question quite adequately.

If you don't trust them don't book with them, get your own TAG, write your own system and catch for yourself.

Like I keep saying, the chances of a public catcher getting premium domains these days are slim because of the amount of private catchers.

Probably the best domain a public catcher has got me was freeporn.co.uk but I've had loads over the years, many that have sold for 4 or 5 figures.

Grant you ask one question in here, and get a stamped of assumptions. I don't nor have I ever used a drop service. You keep posting, still as yet no answer as to if anyone has ever got a top domain off a drop service. But keep on posting mate with yet more assumptions.

I've just setup my own catch system a few months ago - the information on how to do it isn't hard to find.

Finding a host close to nominet is very easy - I found a host <1ms away from nominet on my first google search, hardly cloak and dagger stuff.

If someone asks me to catch a domain and I'm not going for it - then I'll try for them. I only try to catch lll.co.uk domains for myself.

On the flip side - if you'd spent over 3k setting a system up and someone asks you to attempt to get a £300-£400 domain for £50, and expect not to pay anything up front and pay nothing if you fail - what would you say?

Still waiting for you to name the source where you are reading all this as stated in your first post?

if you can not name it ill assume you are just here to cause trouble and remove the thread.

PoshTiger

Not only is your post impressive in it's frankness, but wish you all the best with it. If I ever give it a go myself i'm disclosing simple as. Not out of any moral concern but because I believe it will benefit my business in the long term. That's my ultimate take on it.

still as yet no answer as to if anyone has ever got a top domain off a drop service.

Grantw has answered you. However maybe that domain was not in the right niche, or maybe not premium enough!

TBH, I think a lot of catchers will have their own domain database and they will book catches in their system well in advance of public bookings.

So your answer is no, they aren't just a front.

Like poshtiger said, its not complex. A google and your on webhostchat a couple of threads later and you know goscomb / someone else are good enough. Writing a good script is a bit different but its by no means a big hurdle. Only issue I messed up on was carriage return.

That is sooo funny - you clearly got a memory as short as your temper.

As I said your points are valid - just directed at the wrong people - take a pill and chill.

Would you kindly disclose who you are? Are you admin. If so in what way is asking if drop services are a con 'causing trouble'. Or it it the part where I ask if anyone has actually hit a biggun on a drop service also 'causing trouble'. Close the thread, I don't respond to threats, especially ones as baseless as what your offering. And I won't be disclosing any further sources whatsoever. Hope that's clear enough.

There's been quite a few LLLs caught by public catchers over the past couple of years.

I'm not assuming anything, you're coming across like there's something really dodgy going on with public catchers so I'm just advising you to not bother using them!

^ I advise you ask for this thread to be locked and move on!

You must spread some reputation around before you give it to Bailey again. :/
