    Hi Folks,

Just interested as most of the sites we have owned before have preformed better in bing's search engines.

We have not even scratched the surface yet with the seo for Roulette.co.uk but already noticed its sneaked on bottom of page 1 for the term "Roulette" in bing.

Do most people find this is normally the case when working on seo?

    Cheers

I only optimize for google... mainly down to the 90+% market share in the UK.

It's a little different in america with yahoo and bing having 10%+ of the market but in the uk I can see little point...

    Sept 2011 Aug 2011

    Google 90.99 90.66 +0.33
    Bing 3.63 3.87 -0.24
    Yahoo 2.50 2.56 -0.06
    Ask 1.45 1.37 +0.08
    Others 1.43 1.54 -0.11

Bing loves exact match domains, but as pointed out it's (sadly) fairly irrelevant for the UK market...

What Edwin said. Bing places far more emphasis on exact match.

Having said that, Bing seems easier to rank well in as a general rule. I think that's partly because it's less competitive and the algorithm isn't as advanced as Google's though.

Call your logo roulette.png instead of logo.png, link it to your index page, and add image title/ALT text 'Roulette'.

Use SEO friendly URLs for your pages.

Two reasonably easy fixes which should make an impact.

Thanks for the tips Jenni, :)

Hopefully we will start seeing some good results within the next 12 months.

Its a tough sector so will be interesting to see how it starts ranking on google

Bing is still believed to like on-page optimization factors and a lot of keyword-rich domains are found on top pages, even if they still are not powered by a lot of links over the net. You have selected a very great domain name but I believe the niche or market for your portal would be very competitive in the meanwhile. It is predictable that it will take some time before your site will manage to get some favorable web ranks on Google for the selected keywords as Google is more difficult than Bing in SEO.

Now that your website is among the top ten domains listed for your primary keyword on Bing, you can obviously find your site on front page of Yahoo as well, a kind of promising bit of news to hear, especially given this fact that you have not begun your main SEO tasks and are just going to get prepared for the bigger challenges ahead, Google placements. Try building quality links for your website, originated from sources which are related to your niche and gradually you will feel Google traffic shares.

Add the "roulette" word in the <meta title> not just on the description.

And also, instead of using numbers (xxx/index.php?p=7) in your links use texts (e.g. xxx/index.php?p=types_of_roulette) search engines don't understand numbers only texts. <<= Surely this will enhance your SERPs.

And create more backlinks. Most of your competitions has atleast 1k backlinks.

And better if you focus your rankings on Google. Yahoo, Bing and other search engines will follow.

Most of the SEOs try to rank their sites in google because there is no doubt that google is getting almost 75% traffic from world therefore SEOs try to rank their site on google and after get good SERP position it is easy to rank it on other search engines.
