bye bye Full Time Employment

good luck, I thought I'd be in that position, but miss the banter at work too much

Good luck Andrew - all the best to you, if for having the balls to take the plunge :)

Good luck Andrew! It's been 11 months to the day since I started working from home and I absolutely love it.

I'm still in full time employment, but my boss lets me choose my hours, so I usually knock off around 4pm - 4:30pm to start cooking, then have tea, bath and bed time with my family, then do some more work in the evening. The more I think about it, the better it seems! I'm also around the house all day when my wife and daughter are home, and though it can be distracting some times, I love the flexibility it affords me. My daughter will be two in December, I know for a fact that I'd have missed so much if I carried on working the 9-5 (with a hours commute each way).

Thanks Dave,

You have hit the nail on the head and is the approach I will be adopting.

For the time being, it will be home based but i have something lined up that will very quickly change that. (fingers crossed on that one)

Thanks all for your positive comments and input.

It's not to say this decision has been made lightly or on a whim as leaving a well paid job and convincing the mrs that it's for the greater good is hard enough, especially with 3 young children :)

I Love-it but, I wish I got dressed more than two or three times a week (still saves on washing) very easy to work in T-shirt and shorts even in winter

As for colleagues, ie workmates - I do miss that, Mostly for the day-to-day rivalry and banter, not the socialising (all lived too far apart)

The bit I particularly like - Is listening to all the cars pulling off the driveways around 7:30 each morning, Rolling over in bed and thinking, Yeah when I'm ready. :) Particularly in the depths of winter

Has a downside like last winter when it dumped 10" of snow overnight.... everyone else had day off. Snow doesn't tend to accumulate on the stairs to my office! :)

Still when it's sunny in summer I can nip off for the afternoon and catch up in the evening.

I've learnt to send myself a 'sick-note'
