Hackney used to be a dump, now a 3 bed terrace is worth about 800k and it's trendy and edgy!

I was chatting to a taxi driver ( as you do ), in about 2009 when the prices in Hackney were going through the roof and all these trendy media types were buying there because 'the people in the know' were saying it was the cool place to buy, he said that a lot of the people he dropped off asked if he could wait until they were in the door as they were shit scared of being mugged.

I find hope in sales like this. It's as you say 800k for a 3bed terrace in the area but you can get the defining uk domain for the entire area for 3k.

The domain sphere is the polar opposite of the housing market. This sale is an absolute bargain.

If you live or have lived in London any amount of time you wouldn't though, it's a huge borough, Hackney Carriages is the Taxi licence for official taxis in London.

Paddington is just a district though, hackney is a borough. So for me (and I do local info sites in london) the value of hackney.co.uk is way more than paddington.co.uk.

Tbh I'm annoyed I missed the hackney auction...

Was going to say that myself. Rather have Hackney than Paddington. Not just that it's a far bigger area, but it's just as well known and more kinetic. Paddington has levelled off in it's evolution and doubt anyone who lives or works there is interested in viewing anything other than the Sunday Times Financial Supplement.

Whereas Hackney is on it's way up so the potential for this domain is greater.

My son is a uni student in London, his digs are in the Borough of Hackney and cost £200 per week for a room in a very average flat.

Unlike my other half I believe money in the bank is better than promises to advertise on a web site that doesn't exist yet. So any decent offer should you have missed this could still buy it lol
