Anyone care to speculate how long it will be before all of the four letter .co.uk domains will be bought up?

I'd give it 18 months, maximum.

That's nearly half a million domains and IMO most have no value.

Their's still a few meaningful (or at least better than hyzw.co.uk) LLLL.co.uk's still out there just need to open your mind ;). Which would mean a better after reg value of more than $15
I reg'd yuca last night as I already had yucca org uk and thought wow yuca co uk still available!

Setting adsense up on them and will pay for them selves in a few months.

You would be surprised what prices some of these LLLL.com domains sell for!

Many of the drivers for buying up LLLL.co.uk domains are the same as for buying LLLL.com s. Many are marketable and easy to remember. There will be a lot of bad letter combinations that no one will want particularly, but .co.uk domains are relatively cheap to register and I would guess that someone will just grab the last remaining domains at the end.

    Same with 3 letter .org.uk s.

What's interesting is that nearly one third of forum members think that four letter .co.uk domain names will never be bought up completely.

I dont want to quote any as they were private sales. I do recommend snapping up the premium letter domains though.

Of the dictionary match 4letters I've found that all but a dozen or so are regged. The non-dictionary anagrams / slang / etc are a mixture of companies, private regs & free.

I don't think there will ever be the demand for these like the .coms.

That's my view too, if it makes a word then of course these wil lbe regged, but I don't see people regging zyjq.co.uk just in case someone decides to buy it...

My feeling is that four letter domains have to be long term holdings. It may take 10 or 20 years before such names find an end user, if ever.

But I think four letter .co.uk domains will have a value above reg fee because they generally are a good alternative to longer and harder to remember domains.

Admin, in your example you picked a domain that is clearly unattractive. But 3 letter .coms and 3 letter .co.uk s with non-premium letters sell for respectable prices. Similarly, there is every chance that 4 letter .co.uks will go up, though by not as much, and not as fast, obviously.

It will be a very long time before anyone begins to speculate heavily in LLLL.co.uk domains... It will happen, but not for many years, if it does it will be at least 6-8 years dependant on market growth of course.

In any case, there is definate value in four letter domains... Ive had two low-mid £xxx offers on four letter .info's and one LLLL.net this week...

I'm not sure these will ever get sold out but I think all CVCV and VCVC will go at some point (if not already)

    I have a few, including: jova.co.uk, viko.co.uk, ziga.co.uk and xiga.co.uk.

Instead of going for acronyms I went for strong sounding, brandables. I have 24 LLLL.coms too of reasonable quality, and some of my LLLL.co.uks receive comparable traffic.
