As a seller am I legally bound or obliged a request for an invoice by a buyer?

Can I opt out of such of process?

I'm sure buyers think they will be getting a Sedo invoice when they request one.

I always ignore that part. Never had a problem to date. You're quite right; it should be Sedo that is obliged to provide the invoice.

correct Double Tap :)

Unfortunately I am not an attorney so I forwarded your query to our legal team who will come back with an answer for you shortly.

under Sedo's Terms and Conditions, we make it very clear that domain transactions are between the buyer and the seller and NOT Sedo. We further require that if a buyer requests an invoice from a seller for tax purposes or otherwise, that the seller shall comply. Sedo will not issue and invoice as Sedo is merely a 3rd party neutral platform used to facilitate transactions and does not own any of the domain names contained in our marketplace. There is no opt out for this, it is merely a rule of our marketplace.

Understood, however where is it stated in your terms (of use) that the seller has to provide an invoice upon the buyers request?

My view is that you are merely acting as a broker and transfer agent and it should be my prerogative if an invoice will be forthcoming or not.

Perhaps if you persist with this concept an auto generated invoice with the sellers details could be automated, so the seller doesn't have to waste their time in an additional administrative process?
