    £20,000 reward offered for discs

Police say there is no evidence criminals have the discs
A reward of £20,000 is being offered for the return of the HM Revenue and Customs CDs containing the personal details of 25 million people.

jesus... so that's tax payers money being spent to return tax payers details... that sounds like a top biz model... might start losing some of my clients info...

You know what also is a good biz model - you be the boss of the company that lsoes all the data - resign and get a better paid job within a week with your mates in Govt... rock on no wonder everyone hates a politician!!!

tempted to send em this disk (http://www.192.com/products/productdetails.cfm?item_id=50

if they were daft enough to lose it, they'll probably accept this one. They'll be even happier with the extra 4 million.

Can just see the news 'we've got the disk back and as a bonus theres an extra 4million names on it!'

Have you been drinking tonight?

Read the thread header again :)

The short answer is there is nothing to stop them. It was on the news when the story first broke that there is no way of telling if copies have been made if they got the originals back.

    Only One REAL Option...!

I think most of us are aware of the Fasthosts security 'issues' that were minor in comparison to this cock up and yet they have quite rightly taken the precautionary and professional aproach (e.g. forced password changes) - so what the f.u.c.k is the government doing by sending out just a load of 'sorry' letters??? - PLEASE, PLEASE: change our passwords - change our bank account numbers - change our (and our childrens) National Insurance Numbers - you pissin f'wits!!! - GCHQ give them some words of wisdom please!

All efforts should be made now to make those discs 'worthless', not bleadin £20k - what are these people on? - Jesus Christ, what the hell is going on here???

Perhaps they pay you the £20k then you, all your family and friends and colleagues die the same weekend in seperate and aparently unconnected freak accidents?
