"In the coming months, the external Keyword Tool will no longer be available. To get keyword ideas, sign in to your AdWords account and try Keyword Planner"

    https://adwords.google.co.uk/select/KeywordToolExternal?

Possible issues for domainers who use this metric to sell names

Cost me too much money already that thing, I tend to stay away from it these days. It's not far off estibot standard. I nearly sold a name quite cheap that had 1300 exacts according to that thing, however I kept it as the buyer backed out and found it gets more traffic than one that shows 15,000 exacts (both top spot).

Glad to see it go to be honest...

Oh, sorry just seen the reference to external.... never used that one. Only the signed in version if there is a difference.

I'm looking at the new tool now  It's a dog to use, I fail to see where "phrases" or [exacts] comes into play? Maybe they have been done away with?

Switch to "keyword ideas" view then click the thing on the top of the right-hand column that looks like a pencil. You can choose Broad, Phrase and Exact match there.

You're right, though. It's a mess compared to the previous tool.

    Thanks.

It's switching between old and new at present.

Yeah, it's a real mess for sure.

I Logged in to my Google account and checked a 2-word keyword and it says the UK search volume is 12,100. I then changed to both Broad and Phrase but the volume remains the same for all 3 match types.
I then logged out and used the old 'External' Google keyword tool and the Exact volume shows 8,100 for the same keyword.
