I messaged them and was told it will happen, but might be another week or so. What a messy refund process!

My 123-reg refunds all seem to have been paid back, and appearing on my Paypal account, but not yet cleared.

    Overall analysis of last week:

    Target names: 40
    Names acquired: 17
That was much more than I expected to get

As I am a customer not a catcher, I was reliant on others to catch the names for me.

123-reg: got me 2, but only one on my priority list
Dropped.uk got me one that I wanted
Total Registrations got me 5, and they were ones I really wanted
Dropcatcher got me 5, including some nice ones
The remaining 4 I picked off live through Crazy Domains

Total Registrations has always been a bit of a catching gem for me. They caught me some quality domains in previous releases so I went with them again. They caught over 50% of the names I requested. I think their non-auction, cheap process got overlooked by a lot of people, because even mid-week most of the good names were going begging and available for pre-reg.

I could have made a killing, but I only buy domains I actually want to use. They got me:
    Christ.uk
    Stuart.uk
    Susannah.uk
    Tudors.uk
    Vocation.uk

Those names may not sound that exciting to you, but they were exactly what I wanted.

I'm descended from the Stuart royal family, Murray, the rightful rulers of all you lot, so I'm not exactly going to sell stuart.uk (or stuarts.uk for that matter) for a few hundred quid! I might sell you a knighthood when the Hanoverians who usurped us finally get phased out.

We lost our castle after the '45. That doesn't go well with me. There has to be payback. A bit like waiting for 123-reg to refund pre-registrations. Personally I like her Majesty the Queen. But the Stuarts are still the rightful rulers. ;)

Yep have been refunded about two thirds of my 123-Reg preorders but still waiting on a chunk. Very odd system.

Once a 123-reg refund shows up on your Paypal, how long does it take to clear and actually be added back to your bank accounts? Anyone know? I have refund payments listed in Paypal, which they then pay back to the bank accounts, but I haven't seen anything come through in the banks.

Well, I am actually directly descended from Henry 6th, my grandpa was a Kirkpatrick of clan Kirkpatrick

It's pretty cool because someone has made a website for the Kirkpatrick clan where you can trace my family tree on my grandpas side back to someone born 1070

I am still waiting on partial refund from 123 reg - their response on live chat - we refund in stages, it will take another 2-4 days for your outstanding money to be credited into your account ..... not holding my breath

@ Dee: no, my chosen subject was the Scottish mountains

On the subject of 123-reg refunds, I discovered the refunds already flagged up by Paypal are starting to clear in my bank accounts.

Meanwhile, today, I manually reg'd Karl.org.uk for my friend Karl. It must have just dropped when I checked it. Ha! Siusaidh the domain catcher :)

@ Murray: it's a nice, quirky thing when you can track back your ancestors every single generation like that. Via the Stuarts, I can track back to Gabran mac Domangart who was King of Dalriata in the 550's

Of course, we're all descended from royalty if you go back enough generations, but it's nice to know how it fits in. My mother was from quite an established Highland family, mainly Gordons, Lumsdens, Forbes, and Leslie.

    Anyway, back to domains...

As a non-Nominet member, I have a question which perhaps one of you guys can clear up for me. I asked Heart Internet today why I cannot use my domain credits to buy some free-to-reg .uk's, and their reply was...

    "Hi,
...Due to the nature of these new domain name extensions the cost factor is slightly different...I understand that this is a bit confusing and frustrating. We're working with nominet to get these amended..."

    So, is the pricing different?
If yes, what could be 'negotiated', I'm curious?

No perhaps not. Just ask them , to us a co.uk and uk cost the same. So yes there’s no obvious reason why they would charge you more.

I'm descended from a distinguished domaining dynasty. The ruling Domain King is Rick Schwartz, but there are clamorous pretenders to the throne. It's a saga fit for a Netflix show; like Game of Thrones but with less tits and dragons and more dots and domains.
