Some SEO TIps
Agreed; certainly benefits to W3C outside of SEO -- my site looked like crap until I hired someone with W3C knowledge and made it much better for many reasons. Either way, I doubt the SEO angle too, but I wouldn't ignore W3C for that reason (or any). Skip.- Skip

Personally I don't think W3C is as important to Google as some of the other areas. I could be wrong but Google seems more important with content / authority / etc. then how 'compliant' your site is, but that's just a guess.
