plural domains

Hi guy Opinions / experience welcome again Does the letter 'S' make a difference if the domain i have (just an example) is only bluecar.com and yet the search has been for "blue cars"? Would my site still rank or would someone who has bluecars.com rank higher? Also vice versa so...
