registered a name with 1&1 six hours, why is it still processing and why does'nt it let me change the dns, and why is there a sedo page already up there on the name?

a case of 1and1 monetizing on new domains perhaps?

They are so slow someone else probably got it and has already redirected it to Sedo. Hope for your sake thats not the case, but might be...

I don't think anybody else has it, this has happens each and every time I register a name and winds me up to no end. wanted to see if anyone else is experiencing this.

memo to self 'must move names from 1and1'.

All I can think of is that as 1&1 collect payment at the end of each billing month, and not instantly as others do.

They must get a print out and send someone over to to the billing department to check the state of your account and have a nice cup of tea while they are there, a little chat about the kids etc.

I can't seriously come up with any explanation for it other than manual authentication of the state of your account, it's mental.

I've posted elswhere on this forum about 1and1 - if you are in a hurry - then don't bother, it can take several hours to Reg a name with 1and1. Others like 123-Reg and occassionally Heart can be inconsistent - some of it down to the odd delay with Automation at Nominet - 9 times out of 10 their own systems.

Put it this way a name server change take about 15 mins with 123-reg - last time I did one with 1and1 it took hours, these actions use the same process as a new name registration - takes only about 10s at most on my own TAG, so i think they are just slow, lazy or both !

Best Regards
