SORRY, POSTED IN THE WRONG SECTION...... anyway...

I have a PR2 site running adsense. It is a site that serves a local community and gets many hits a day due to the forum.

So far in October it has had 2571 page impressions and and 27 clicks, which is a CTR of 1.07%. This has earned a massive total of $8.61

I've just received the following from adsense!!!!

....It has come to our attention that invalid clicks have been generated on
the Google ads found on your site(s). In the future, we may adjust your
payment for any days during which invalid clicks occurred in order to
properly credit advertisers for any invalid activity

ARE THEY HAVING A LAUGH OR WHAT ??????

I have emailed them back for a full explanation. Will keep you informed.

Mine dropped to 9 cents a click for the last two days, I removed them and replaced them with some ebay goods.

Hi pen, sorry to hear of the problems :( If you don't already, get some sort of analytics running on your site. Monitor your clicks if you can. Google have been known to shut down accounts for fraudulent clicks, even when it isn't necessarily the owners fault. If they do shut off your account (hopefully they won't as they don't normally give warning!), it is unlikely you will be accepted back in because for that small amount they make for you, it's not worth the hassle for them.

It's worth monitoring your analytics for fraud anyway, and actually pointing anything suspicious out to G so that they know you trying to help them and there is a far lesser chance of them being evil.... :)

Pen

Is this anything to do with amount of localised traffic, which is an indicator of potentially fraudulent traffic?

OB

the site in question is coalvillerugbyclub.com and has a very active forum. most people in this area are with ntl broadband and consequently have the same proxy IP address I presume.

I'm guessing this could be the issue, ie localised/repeat traffic and not the amount of clicks through.

Ive asked google to explain so I can clarify for them. I've not had anything back yet. yesterdays stats have been wiped out, but todays are registering again.

Will have to wait and see.

adsense response

Here is the response from Adsense.

Bloody useful......not!

We understand that you wish to receive specific information regarding the
invalid clicks we observed on your account. However, due to the
proprietary nature of our algorithm, we cannot disclose any details about
how our monitoring technology works or what specifics we found on your
account.

WTF !!!

well you could ignore it, or cover yourself by providing the information and suggesting that should there algorithum be throwing up such an issue which you suspect it could be then advise them to keep in mind that the site is localised in nature.

I have advised them of the nature of the site and also embedded google analytics....
