Australian Domains (.com.au)

Hey,

Before i start I'm sorry if this has already been asked but i did a search for Australia and nothing was showing on the first couple of pages. Also sorry if this isnt the correct place to write this post.

My name is Mike and run a really profitable online business, i want to start running sites in Australia and want to purchase .com.au domain names, how ever i know someone in the UK cant do that and they must have an Australian business in order to get one. I've been doing some searching around and there's been talks of places that offer a under the table proxy handler service so people outside the country can purchase .com.au domain names. I'm just wondering if anyone on here knows of any reputable places that do this?

I'm not going to ask the obvious question which is is there any other way of me being able to purchase a .com.au without setting up a business/branch over there because i already know the answer is no, but has anyone on here actually managed to get a .com.au domain before without having a registered business over there?

Any help/advice would be great.

Hi Mike, all else I can suggest is to find an Australian domainer you can trust and ask them to register the domain name for you? Personally though if I really wanted to do it why not just form a company, what's the hold back there? Not something I've done personally so just me being curious.
