Whats the usual time .co.uk's drop ?

I have been watching a domain due to drop today is the key to check it every few mins or is there a certain time i should check ?

This is my first attempted domain catch

The drop time is random, the only way to stand a chance of a popular domain is to poll several times a second (and you need access to the DAC to do this to get sufficient quota), you could use your whois quota and hope.

If you want a domain, best bet is to book it with as many catchers as possible

Yes each and every domain can drop at any time, it's not set. Definately best to book with as many catchers as possible to raise your chances of catching a domain you might be after, and don't be too dissapointed if you don't succeed, the competition is strong for good domains.

I thought it depends on the time (hour of the day) when the domain was registered?

Well the domain i am watching was on yesterdays droplists... still hasnt dropped yet

So who knows!!!

Won't drop. These haven't even been showing "*** This registration has been SUSPENDED. ***" despite being past due.

Yes it says

Registration status: Renewal required.

But the domain expired on Expiry date: 30-May-2012

It this an error or something that nominet can solve ?

Nope :(

It still hasn't dropped and still in renewal required.. ill just keep an eye on it for now and move on to another dropper!

Ive been following a recent drop that hasn't become available yet so contacted some friends on other forums as well as Nominet.
It seems that the likely reason this domain has not become available again is due to it only being 2 letters and Nominet no longer issueing 2 letter .uk domains. I don't know why they are doing this, clearly they allowed it in the past so why the change of heart?
Doesn't seem fair when BP can have bp.co.uk

Nominet released all 2 letter domains recently, you can read about it here:

http://www.nominet.org.uk/about/consultations/reservedshortdomains/

Also see exacts.co.uk where Ty listed who got what in the 2 letter auctions:

It seems strange that a people like GoDaddy and others return 'Invalid Name' when you search for a 2-letter co.uk domain.
Any ideas why that is so?

Probably still applying old error codes.

V010 Domains with two letters are not allowed Third level domains under co.uk, me.uk, net.uk and org.uk cannot consist of two letters. For further information please see clause 5.6 of our registration rules.

V011 Domains with one character are not allowed Third level domains under co.uk, me.uk, net.uk and org.uk cannot consist of just one character. For further information please see clause 5.5 of our registration rules.

No bother, they are all registered. However does a whois work on their site?
