If you have a product and you promote it through a company like commission junction, how do they/you track a sale from your site? Do they give you a code to add to your site?

The companies I use give me unique codes for links thst I place on my sites or twitter

I have tried googling the answer and there's a lot written on how to become an affiliate and make money publishing on your sites (which I have done before), but what I want to know is the reverse of that. If you are the company looking to get affiliates to drive sales for your business... Obviously there are companies like clickbank and affiliate junkie, amazon locals etc that offer this service but has anyone on here used any of these services? How do they work?

I have been to the sites to check but they are vague, they just "contact us" so we can work with you etc..

Clients arrive in all shapes and sizes, hence the apparent vagueness, but here's what Affiliate Window say:

As all the networks say, "contact us". That is going to cost you nothing to do and you will get specific answers from the horse's mouth.

Thanks guys. I will be contacting them once my site is ready but I am just trying to find out more about it beforehand.

I haven't set one up using aff window or paid on results but I have worked on a site which had their own affiliate program, and they just had an include on each page much like the adsense include which did all the monitoring and tracking.

If you Google "set up an affiliate program" you should find what you want.
