The (non)respondant seems to have registered the surname of a London dentist and is redirecting it to what seems like a rival website, I guess he didn't have a leg to stand on.

It looks like a load of people have been subscribed to nom-steer without their knowledge :)

That's also a very uncommon surname = less than 100 people in the UK.

I perosnally don't see this case as being important, it's more as suggested by Admin, the precedent that this case starts.

As I posted on Nom-Steer, you are going to have a new industry, people that change there name by deed poll in an attempt to get names and people looking through the death columns of papers to find out what domains dead people own.

Unfortunately this one is a policy thought up by people with their heads in the clouds and no idea of the scum theat lives in the gutter.

Pretty slim chance of me getting callaway.co.uk i'd say lol

My last name is taken in every option!

The owner wont sell me the domain as its his last name and business name!

Funny story though, I came home one night bit drunk and something was telling me to look up my last name, so I did, and oddly the .org.uk was sat there unregged. It had been taken for years so must of expired!

So got my last name in .org.uk for reg fee which I cant complain about but its still not the .co.uk!! :D

STJ has almost all the variations of my firstname and my surname in .co.uk, and other extentions are held by some ancesters who broke off 400 yrs ago and now own a multi million investment fund, and have TM applications on all new .ext incl .me/.mobi/etc.

Names

I could have my surname in .org.uk but wuldn't do anything with it,so not bothering.

I do own my name now AndyMacdougall.com after waiting 6 years for it :(

The previous owner has since left a message on my guestbook saying " Hi ! i owned this name but let it go " yeah right,he forgot about it more like.
How else did he know i turned it into a site ?

When he went to re-reg and discovered i had snapped it up.

I did aquire my sisters first name in .co.uk but she doesn't want it
So much for trying to do something nice.

A bit off topic but related, I bought my surname .com somewhere around 1999, free to reg, using a small local ISP that the company I worked for used. Never used it but paid my dues to them (somewere around £50 per year!) happily each year to renew, then checked it one day a few years later to find it was registered to someone in the states.

ISP said that they were using an email registration system that failed at the time, sorry and all that but nothing we can do.

It's now registered to an Italian company, they wanted Eur 4K last time I asked. Winds me up every time I think about it, would love it now for email addresses for the family.
