GEO/City Domain Name Owners Must READ!!!!

if you own a geo or city domain names then you need to take a look at this software etc

So if you own a geo or city the above software is a great way to get it online as newspapers are losing money and are looking to buy geo and city domain names but do not sell set them up yourself and start earning long term income.

Its cheap really if you pay a uk company to build the same it will cost you £1000s, plus look at it as a long term investment mally.

Seems to have quite a lot of add ons that cost and the simple buy it use it option is high for someone trying it but cheap enough for savvy people.

You'll be hard pushed getting sales with that model as lots of free stuff out there. (maybe)

But good look as it does seem a nice platform.

local companies care about traffic if your site is high on google for your city keywords thats all you need to show them as this geo is a long term investment like 2-3 years down the line then start making good money.

Not sure what you mean but I meant about hard push to get a sale from anyone on here to use for their GEO domains. Not the local businesses

But on that note local business, a lot of them aren't internet savvy and is an absolute knightmare to even get some to start to understand how important the internet listings are or even work.

Also there are dozens if not 100's of xxxxxxonline.co.uk xxxxxxxxguide.co.uk ThisIsxxxxxxx.co.uk Thebestof.co.uk/xxxxxxx yell.co.uk touchlocal etc etc.... for cities and this puts a big chunk of them off also.

So to be listed on all of them would (if paid a paid for listing is chosen) cost a fortune and this is putting a lot of businesses off, especially when their competitors are shown below and above them in the listings page and only get 15 hits from it a year.

Saturation springs to mind. Not a week goes by with me not getting a call about online marketing or directory listings.

All in all if you know and have good contacts to businesses this software is good! But is a lot for someone to dive in and try to produce a new directory.

mmmmm - i'm with GDG on this - the offering is a good looking bit of script - would be nice just to have so you can cut out the features but with the competition in this kind of area i'm not sure buying an off the shelf template is going to give you the advantage you'll need.
This assumes youre starting from scratch - would be good to apply to a traffic domain of the right ilk for a quick turn around.

Times are changing golddiggerguy if you own a Florists business in say manchester and you get a call from manchester.co.uk saying they are on the first page on google.co.uk for the keyword "manchester florist" i think you pay the yearly fee to get listed on manchester.co.uk plus i am not talking about setup just another directory, also add a social network like a forum, competitions thats what i am doing with coventgarden.com so local people can win prizes offered by local businesses to build return traffic plus all local businesses care about is traffic if you have manchester.co.uk and it get 10 visitors a day you got no way in selling ads but having the domain name of the city give you that extra foot in the door then the rest of the above urls you posted.

Charlie you can redesign the script to look the way you what just buy the source code and build on it plus you owning the city domain name gives you that advantage over the other directories.

I do think the look and feel of yours is VERY nice. But I just think $1499.00 is a lot right now on a very contended market.

Thank you very much golddiggerguy but i am only using the below page section of the script for coventgarden.com all the rest of the site is custom build i just need something easy for local companies to add offers, events and buy ads and keep records (invoices) for themselves like using "Make Your Payment" - "Transaction History" and "Invoice History" options form the below page etc

What is the difference to them if they are front page of google on manchesteronline.co.uk or front page of google on manchester.co.uk ?

The answer is none, as you said they only care about the traffic and not that it has come from manchester.co.uk OR manchesteronline.co.uk

Not trying to rubbish your idea, as I am 100% behind your idea and way of thinking, just don't think Joe public / business owners have caught up with us yet

domainseller200 you right none but if i had an option to build a city site i would use manchester.co.uk/.com everytime and i am not saying just build another directory but build a directory/community/prize draws/local news site.

Build a database of local users with details of age group what their interests are if they are local visitor/business visitor then you can sell targeted ads to local companies.

domainseller200 i was at the 2009 GeoDomain Expo in San Diego in april and their was this guy who owns SanDiego.com he said he gets a lot of free traffic from other #####sandiego.com domain name owners when they do offline marketing (radio, tv, newspapers) as all people remember is ###sandiego.com

Yep 100% agree with you, however one of my first online ventures a few years a go was a portal offering exactly what you are saying, and we struggled to get businesses to advertise for only £10 a month !

I do think that it will become more apparent in the futre to people, and when the recent sales of James's are highlighted in the public eyc I think they MAY start to see SOME benefit of having a premium domain name as an online hub for a city.

This is what is going to happen or is happening to uk newspapers now, thats why its best for city/town domain name owners to setup local portal now so in 3 years time you start earning good money by being the frontdoor to the area

And the only way to do this is to get users to join in building the site for you.

i am not aiming at local business for my main income off the site, a few years ago thei wasnt 100s of affiliate offers you can market to your users and keep the site online but if you own one of the following domain names etc
