Hosting and Domain Registrar Recommendations

I currently use 34sp.com for hosting and 1and1.co.uk for buying domains. I am getting a lot of downtime with 34sp.com and I am realising 1and1.co.uk does not make life easy to prevent it automatically renewing and charging me.

I am therefore seeking recommedations for both a good hosting company and a good company to register domains with. I am currently developing a site that I hope will have a lot of traffic so I am particularly keen to get a good hosting company for this site.

I use Heart Internet for .co.uk and I haven't had any problems with them so far. I think it is run by the guys who used to run 123reg before it was sold to Pipex. The control panel is comprehensive and so far support has been good. Not sure about how easy it is to not renew domains though.

.com, I use GoDaddy, no complaints so far although control panel is quite complex, but it does the job well. Again, not sure how easy it is to not renew domains.

!and1 are 'evil mean cruel and nasty' but cheaper than chips I use them mainly for spec reging, many times I have threatened to go to Slough and kick off in their reception now Im in litigation against them, with the aid of trading standards. For my valuable (to me anyway) domains its Names.co.uk, eye wateringly expensive but service second to non service wise, however just been bought out by an Italian Co. so keeping my eye on them. I have accumulated a lot of other accounts through spot buying and they all seem much of a muchness the above stand out for the points I have raised.
