I have been buying domains for about a year now, primarily after I started working for the family business here in the Netherlands (so .nl domains). Our niche (medical) was not very developed at all, so I was able to handregister, catch, backorder and buy quite a lot of domains with good search numbers, and plan to build a network up of 100+ info / shop sites the coming years.
I've joined this forum because I've enjoyed my membership to a Dutch domain forum a lot, and would like to expand that experience.
I have strayed quite a bit, in terms of domains, from the network I'm setting up, registering "3d domains", different cctlds, "sustainability domains" and food domains...even some adult ones. I am quite confident many of the names I've registered for the company are valuable assets... some of the "domaining hobby" names...I'm less sure.
In keeping with tradition, my best and worse names:
Worst - A tie: I registered wakami.nl, thinking, without checking, that that is how you spell "wakame"(an edible seaweed). The domain I was mocked most for registering, and am therefore the most ashamed of, is iPhone4.tv
Best: my personal favorite is organics.nl
Sorry for writing too much, if you read it all thanks ;)
Talk to you soon,
Daniel

Goedenavond Daniel :)

Welcome to Acorn. Medical and pharmachem it is also what I do. I think you will enjoy this place. Well, I haven't seen any .nl domain offered here, but you might be the first.

P.S. I love Holland!

Welcome to AD from another Holland fan (much better weather than Scotland and everyone is so well dressed in Amsterdam). I must add though that Rotterdam is a city in Holland that I dislike, mainly due to Feyenoord fans being unfriendly during a trip there - I've been all over Europe with my team and never felt unwelcome anywhere else.

Hope I have not upset you since there's a 10% chance you come from Rotterdam if you use Holland rather than the Netherlands. I have fond memories of Den Bosch as a child, lived there for a couple of years.

Finally, you've got some nice names there if organics is anything to go by.

Thanks for the welcome :)

@ inbound: if anything, your dislike of Rotterdam / Feyenoord makes me feel infinitely closer to you. There is nothing you could have said to gain my complete trust faster ; )
@Expertc: Goedenavond! I am into the laboratory market, not so much pharma. I don't know what I could use pharma names for here in NL, as there are very tight restrictions on what products can be sold online - any meds are a big NO. I have a few supplement / natural product names though.

I'm excited about this forum. The one in Holland is great, but a little quiet - some US forums are too chaotic and there are too many children bickering. This one seems just right, and I am interested in reading about whats going on in the UK.

I read it all! It's really nice to have such a detailed introduction.

Welcome to the forum, Daniel!

Best wishes, Richard

Welcome to the forum Daniel, great intro.

Enjoy your time, i know i have been:)

Thanks everyone for the warm welcomes : )

@ Nick11380, I only have 1 .co.uk domain, and it isn't very good: WhatUp.co.uk. I registered it because a) so many other (inferior) extensions are taken and b) Estibot says it's worth 12 000 $ (LOL!). In American slang, "what up!" is another way to say "what's up?", but I don't know if anyone uses it that way in the UK (I guess not). Hopefully some nice .co.uk names will find their way to me!

That's a nice DN there Dan! There are plenty of brands in the UK that try to replicate American culture so something like 'whatup.co.uk' could go down really well with the right brand. Obviously the search volumes are going to be incredibly low (not that a DN so general would ever convert anyway) but I wouldn't be surprised if you got an £x,xxx offer from the right kind of buyer.
