Some of you may have read my old blog AffiliateStudent , but seeing as I haven't been a student for 2+ years and i'm no longer purely an affiliate with ecommerce stores and a startup set for 2013 I've created a new blog.

www.Expertly.co.uk - I'll be blogging on a regular occassion about many different things but mainly business, tech, marketing, domains, SEO, PR, startups etc. :)

Just posted a nice blog post titled: 24 examples of really bad ad placement

:)

Just done a new post about a site going from 13,000 uniques to 800 in a month! Got to love Google (major sarcasm)

true, pay per click could be an option but for many small businesses PPC isn't viable and if it isn't then they won't have many options left to get new business.

Google are not a charity, so what is their objective ?

I like your blog by the way.

ooo i could go into a rant about 5000 words on Google but I won't :) All I know is they are a monopoly and monopolies aren't good for the business or consumer world :)

Glad you like it :)

Go on Max................. :p

Seriously though, monopoly or not, it's the only way. Who is going to over take Google now? Bing? Apps?

I can see PPC as the only option going forwards.

I think it's fair to say, it can be very easy for a person or company to become too comfortable with managing to hit number 1 spot and even stay there for a long time, but i would never want that site to be my main or only business / income relying on the traffic from that, because like you say Google can pull the plug as they see fit at any point. And their decision is final! I agree with everything you have said.
