A man based in Phoenix, Arizona, named as Jeremiah Tieman, registered both domain names and asserted that he ran primarily a fan site devoted to providing news and information about the star, according to the arbitrator, Williams Towns.

Tieman "registered two domain names that are identical to the complainant's mark and has used those domain names to attract Internet users to a website from which (he) generates pay-per-click advertising," Towns said in his ruling.

Is there something we can learn from this? Should a fan site have no PPC on it?

A fan site should have revenue streams for the owner at all.

Which makes them kinda pointless to run.

The only revenue streams that are ok are those imposed by your host if using free hosting or stuff like that.

I personally think the odd link in the blog for new stuff or the odd aff link here and there to other sites will get away with most stuff long as they are not direct ads. But if they want it that thats still asking for it.
