Whilst doing some research i often come across exacts that say offer 0.04 per click , but may have 40,000 searches or more , i know they is no value in the click side , but is it worth still buying a name with that exact just to bring in traffic , using say a mini site and keywords etc ? or are they a complete waste of time and would not help any kind of traffic and i'd be better starting with a good name with no exacts to start with ?

The .04 isn't how much G would pay you. It's the amount that you would have to bid on the keyword for your ads to get shown. So probably expect 1-2p/click (not 4) from G.

If there's a niche with high paying affiliate products it would make it more appealing.

Global data for researching a .co.uk is also tricky, plus there's how competitive it is to get to the 1st page of Google for people searching that word.

And then the domain value based on what it is (generic, typo, brandable, geo, random...)

And there's your instinct...

Cheers whoop , thank you , thats helped , its giving me some confidence in picking some names to test my Newbie seo Skills

No probs. Maybe other people can chip in too. I'm interested to know how others interpret the data from the keyword tool -

I have had some great success selling a UK product to yanks, where there is a high global exact but low UK exact.

Same for some other countries, one of my niches has words for the same in the local language like french or german, but are WAY cheaper to buy from the UK and import, so having the german word.co.uk has worked well too.

I would say you would have to have a very high volume term for this to make sense, also generally 0.04 is the lowest that I have seen for a value from the Google keyword tool which suggests that there could be no advertisers for this term.

In your example I am not sure it is worth the hassle. From the values you quote I would estimate you could make from £0-10, assuming you mean 40k searches per day and assuming you got top position in Google, and that there were some advertisers.
