You must have come across Payment Protection Insurance, if you ever wanted a loan or bought something on credit. It is that insidious overcharge that is supposed to stop you worrying if you can't pay, but actually does nothing unless you drop dead, in which case no-one will find the policy.
There's a Competition Commission report which has crawled out at the end of January, which exposes serious shortcomings in the way it is sold. Four years after Consumer Advice started making serious noises about the excessive profits made from selling it. This affects so many people, but the papers don't seem to have noticed it.
