Hi All,
Is anyone successfully doing round robin DNS with 1and1 - with multiple A records for the same domain/subdomain? We're doing this for our web hosting set up (it's a subdomain of our main domain name we want multiple A records for). For some bizarre reason it seems as though they cannot do it, although admittedly there is someone else in our company who is trying to do this through the 1and1 control panel and I haven't tried this yet.
However, I got the following e-mail from 1and1 support:
Surely that can't be right? Having multiple A records for a domain/subdomain in a round robin fashion is a pretty basic piece of DNS functionality, and I can't imagine they would disallow it for any legitimate misuse and support reasons. CNAMEs are worse.
Please tell me someone has got the wrong end of the stick here, otherwise this is enough to start transferring our domains to someone who knows what they're talking about. I've not been impressed with 1and1 in anything they do, so I've generally avoided having too do much with them.
Thanks,
David

Please be informed that with our current system you are only allowed to set up a single A Record for each domain. There is no other way than that but you could specify multiple name servers and mail servers. I hope this helps a bit.
