Surely you could get the unhyphenated domain for that price?

judging by the last whois update it looks as though the sale completed.

Brandy and cigars all round then by the sound of it!

Nope, the buyer is an end user who sells kitchen doors online, so I guess they saw the value that way.

what do you base this on?

according to whois, the owner of the 'parked', kitchendoors.co.uk has paid 10k for the hyphenated version .co.uk

er, i smell a rat

endusers don't know how to park, and frankly wouldnt need hyphenated for that money. if unhyphenated was developed and raking in and hyphenated was ranking well, maybe, tiny maybe

I base this on the fact that I ran a PRSS on the registrant on the morning of the 30th and one of their names (at that point in the morning) was an online kitchen doors website. As it happens, they didn't own kitchendoors.co.uk according to the PRSS from Nominet on the 30th AM, it was transferrred after that, which is supported by the last change date on the whois.

Rather than smelling a rat, IMO a kitchen door trader has bought both the hyphenated and unhyphenated domains within the last week, the latter of which transferred during the afternoon of the 30th.

If Max is able to share the price it would be interesting to know how much the non hyphenated domain got sold for too?

What makes a door a "Kitchen Door" - sounds a daft question, but why the demand for doors just for kitchens?

Big business in replacement kitchen doors.

Keep the existing carcasses, add some new worktops and you've got a new looking kitchen.

I can confirm that kitchendoors.co.uk sold to same buyer as kitchen-doors.co.uk

edit - They paid more for un hyphened version but is up to the Sedo to release or not release the details.

Cheers
Max
