whats the most SEO efficient way to redirect a domain?

i built a site in a directory on another domain, and im using
a 301 redirect method to forward another domain to it
(i thought this was the best redirect?)

i used a search engine spider simulator and all it picks up
is the 301 permanent redirect message, no keywords, no site text.

Any tips ?

site was built and lives here: ctuk.co.uk/tikkabilla
domain tikkabilla.co.uk redirects to it

TIA.

I believe that 301 redirects are the way to go.

You could try a post at SEOchat.com or webproworld.com to check (Both excellent SEO sites)

Apparently it is the most sef approach, but is still risky. I personally have a domain that has had problems. My original domain had 400+ pages indexed in gg, then i had to sell it, so i set up a 301 (site-wide) to the new domain. The bots all followed in the expected fashion and still visit daily now. BUT 3 months on from the switch, the new domain has just 13 pages in the gg index. Perhaps in my case, i didn't leave the old domain up for long enough before turning it off...
