Spyware Doctor alternative

Just discovered that Spyware Doctor is no more and sub renewals are being offered Norton Interrnet Security.

I've had nightmares with Norton previously and didn't realise they had bought Spyware Doctor only to kill it off after "listening" to customers...

Can anyone recommend a good alternative to Spyware Doctor?

Never used spyware doctor but I find malwarebytes and Microsoft security essentials quite good.

How long since you used norton. I know it used to be a massive resource hog but its got much better over the years. I've been using it 4-5 years now and not a single problem.
Malwarebytes is a free alternative I've used when cleaning computers of friends who have been infected with spyware. they have bundled in an AV component now not sure if that's any good but they were great at removing spyware.

I use the pro version of this - http://www.malwarebytes.org/ - its the best I've used.

Malwarebytes and Microsoft Security Essentials are what I use (Windows Defender now I'm on Windows eight). I've always used AVG in the past but it's changed recently and become uber spammy, it's also a nightmare to get off your computer.

I've been using AVG since version 6. Never had a customer with a problem after installing AVG. Disclaimer: I have a reseller agreement with them, however, this relationship was because the product was so good.

Probably OTT for your needs, but I put AVG Cloudcare into a small business yesterday, working really well.
