Thanks for letting me know, mods can merge/delete this :)

I'm definately in the Minority of One then.

for the "totally" unknowing "Joe soaps" it was intended for I thought it light-hearted and informative..

I understand from a domain-resellers perspective. It dosn't/wont share the mindset.

I don't even know where to start commenting on what's wrong with it because there are just so many things, but I'm sure you lot will have some opinions ;)

(Sorry if it's already been posted).

This can only strenghthen the values of quality domain names.

Most companies obviously won't go down this road for the same reasons as they don't own Business.com or the like, yes, because of the cost, and to pay a consultant to convince them of the error of their shortsightedness would only add to the cost burden.
Most companies are still blind to balancing the investment required against the enormous value derived from owning an industry generic descriptive name.
For most the information contained in the article is the equivalent of rocket science.

Personally I don't think we'll see a .coke or .pepsi or .google because they know that no one else can or will register those with icaan as it will be a waste of time and money due copyright infringement. We'll generic extensions that have meaning in the same way that .travel tried to enter the Market but was quickly ignored.

There will probably be a .film or .mov or .movie due to the new films always out and they usually buy a temporary domain to match it. However that said it might just end up being .warner or .paramount

I do agree that the public WILL look on some extensions with a little more security when buying because it's a brand but I don't think it will sway the majority. I do however think it will dilute the value of regular TLDs, with more availability on the Market it has to somewhere especially low end sales of between £x and £xxx.
