Just got this from Fasthosts:

--------------------------------------------------
UK domain registry maintenance - Sun 10 June 2007
--------------------------------------------------

From approximately 8am on Sunday 10 June 2007 the UK domain name registry, Nominet, will be upgrading their domain management systems.

Unfortunately, this means that .uk domain name registration and management in your Fasthosts reseller account, including availability checking and WhoIs lookups, will be unavailable until the upgrade work is complete later that day.

Its not working yet and its 8:45pm.
Not working for me anyway, no response from the automaton.

Our efforts to migrate all our data to the new database structure have
been completed. However, a number of the services that rely on the
database are not performing as we would expect. The Automaton, DAC, Online
Services and PRSS are all affected. Work is progressing on fixing the
issues with these services but we will not be bringing them back online
until tomorrow, Monday 11 June, at the earliest.

We apologise for the inconvenience this will cause.

I didn't see that on their web site when I looked.

We use the Tucows fastlookup which is now showing all .uk domains as available, probably due to the DAC being down.
Not good at all for obvious reasons.
How many times can we sell sex.uk in one evening?
My record was 7 up till now during another outage when the old whois borked and showed all domains as available.

They posted an announcement on nom-tech earlier. Interesting the UK domain registry being "down" this long, though I appreciate they have a big job on their hands.
