Hi there,

I would be interested wether anyone of you could probably give me a short explanation on detagged status or the drop cycle of uk - domains. I read a lot about detagged domains but did some whois queries in order to find free domains, but never ever noticed a status called detagged. All statuses I found where

Registered until renewal date
and
Pending renewal

So as far as I got it, detagged should be a deconnection of the domain, meaning all domain services provided being not accessible any more due to no active nameserver resolvement any more, but what I wonder is, does the whois show some other status as well?

What I also wonder is, do there exist droplists for detagged domains?

Thx in advance for your replies! :)

detag domain list would be a nice find! but alas its almost impossible or at least impractical as its primarily done by tag holders.

Any domain at any time could become detagged.

To create or maintain a list of detagged domains you would need records before and after. The only way I can think of doing this would be to :-

  • Obtain COM / NET / etc zonefiles (because UK isnt obtainable)
  • Strip out just nameserver addresses
  • Probe nameservers daily

If the nameserver does not reply within the specified time period, all domains using that nameserver could have become detagged! Hey putting this in writing its looking more and more do able!

The main problem being that nameserver and domain quantities change to often. It would be easier contacting all the tag holders asking for lists they detag lol
