OK, so I've now parked 100+ reasonable generics at NameDrive and done some 'optimisation'. But as I'm new at this, I've just done what seems right to me, not anything that has been in any way researched or thought about.

So a few questions:

1 Is it better to use a few select keywords, or to use a larger number?

2 Should I use all variants of a keyword (ie the singular, the plural and any obvious ...ing ...ed etc)?

3 Can I use phrases? Or group words? If so how ("like this")? And is it a good idea?

4 How can I improve my choice of keywords? eg: I own: RealestateAgent(s).co.uk - how would I go about choosing key words for that? real, estate, realestate, agent agents house sales...????

That's probably enough to be going on with ;)

Thanks all

Have I asked something I shouldn't have?

Are keyword techniques a closely guarded secret, to be kept shrouded in mystery? Surely not...?

Thanks - I'm sure the stuff there will help me... trouble is, I still don't really have a clue what I need helping with!

I've done a search for 'keywords', but there are so many posts that mention keywords in passing, that it's not very easy to find posts that explain how to use them etc.

Has anyone done, or does anyone know of 'an idiots guide to keywords' or a 'beginners guide' or even a 'blondes guide'? :)

Feeling more stupid than usual!

does Namedrive really works for you, the clicks i get from them felt less than Sedo's parking

Honest answer is I've really no idea!

For a start, I've only just added my names to them. I'm not at all sure they're very well optimised. And there probably aren't any links to them!

I've got about 150, mostly reasonable generics, eg:

RealestateAgent(s)
PartyPlanning
FishRestaurant
CutPriceTravel
TimberImports
CarComponents
TakeAwayCurry
TyresAndExhausts
etc
etc

So far I've had 23 views, 3 clicks and $0.30.

Hmmm... barely covers the electricity to have the computer on ;)

So do a basic development of the page and add some Google AdSense to each site. Should be worth more than parking any day of the week.

Couldn't agree more. BUT, less chance of the domain selling unless you link over to a sedo page for the domain from your adwords page and let users know you are selling :)

itrends makes a good point as we have seen that the vast majority of end user sales offers come through the live page, be it parked or not. I am not aware of any statistics showing how a developed page detracts from potential sales offers. If there is a link making it clear that it is for sale, it could have little impact, but if people see that the page is clearly a parked / holding page, it may be more likely that they would make an offer. You don't have to link it to Sedo for the sales, unless you absolutely want to pay their commission for the sale, you could just put a link to your email address for example :)

totally agree, if you see a developed site, you might think the owner would not want to sel.

Thanks all - although I'd still be interested in any keyword tips!!

Not how to chose them, so much as:

* how many to use
* whether to use single words or "phrases of words" or both

etc

Thanks
