Hey guys,

I've only just been bitten by the domain buzz and with that have been trying to wrack my brain on potential names to create.

I've got one in mind ( computer related ) but with it's .com taken I wasn't sure ( with the prospect of selling at a later date ) what to register it as - .co.uk, .net, .org, .info.

What would you advise, with selling the domain in mind as the best one to register it as?

Thanks for your time,

Scott

My order of preference would be:

.co.uk - particularly if the site will be UK targetted.
.net
.org
.info - As these are so cheap they have a slightly spammy reputation, but I think they offer good value and will gain in popularity.

Expect that to almost always be the case, i'm afraid!

Yeah, unfortunately I've been finding that problem quite frequently!

Thanks for the help accelerator. It's a hard to make a decision on a .co.uk or .net as I always have that niggling doubt in my head that I put X.co.uk for sale and the .net gets taken and then sold for more. At this rate I'll end up buying both!

Thought I'd post here rather than me making another thread:

How does everyone advertise the domains that they're selling, as apart from parking your site or paying the £30 featured listing I can't see how potential buyers are aware that there's a domain being sold by me?

You can try posting the domain for sale here in the relevant subforum and on other domain name forums.

There are the various domain name marketplaces, sedo, Afternic etc etc

Many people will try contacting potential buyers directly. To look more professional it helps if you create your own website to list your domains.

Thanks again.

I think I'll try posting one of my domains on here, hopefully it might get some interest.

I would still buy important keywords in .eu if they were available, but I'm not big into them at the moment, I only have a handful.
