Hi firstly I am new here so hello to everyone and be gentle with me if I am posting in the wrong place. I have / had a website and domain with weycrest but it has been more down than up, last week I seen my site for the first time in months :) but it went again, I can't get weycrest to reply to my emails or calls !! are they bust ?? guessed this forum would know... if so how do I get my domain back ?? thank in advance.

Just noticed the weycrest site is now down :(

Welcome to Acorn.

I can't offer you any direct assistance with Weycrest other than to point you to a recent thread where another user was experiencing similar problems.

They've obviously gone tits up.

They have a trail of websites all over the place, I've been on a mission to get in touch with them with no success whatsoever.

The last activity I can see on any of their sites is a blog post from April 7th on this site:

http://www.smileysfree.co.uk/

Apart from the main dickhead Paul Lee, the name Jay Newman crops up a lot:

However, his picture seems to differ greatly on many of the sites and I suspect it's some sort of fictional character Paul Lee has made up!!!

I've pretty much given up on them now.

LOL, compare the picture of 'jay newman' on this page:

http://www.smileysfree.co.uk/about/

with the one on the right on this page:

http://www.0z.co.uk/

Then click on the 'myzimbio' link below the pic which actually takes you to Paul Lees page!

I suspect the guys a few sandwiches short of a picnic!

Ah, that sounds about right. Well at least you can sort your stuff out. I need files off my server that's been down for 2 weeks.

You could try asking in the web hosting section. I think a few people on here use krystal.co.uk

You said Tucows sent you an email - how did that happen? I thought I had to get an authorisation code from weycrest?? What did you do?
I'm sure you could help a lot of people

Weycrest must be Tucows resellers for TLD domains which means that Tucows will have overall control of your domains and can therefore help you out if you contact them. This probably won't help if you've got a .uk domain though.

Grant

generally Tucows, Enom and so on will have processes in place to deal with a reseller going out of business or failing to give the required service - as long as the domain is registered in your name, then try the registrar's support routes and follow their advise and the domain should be under your control again fairly soon.

I had to do this a number of years ago when my reseller account was in a similar situation to the issues described (one of the main reasons I moved my business to rented servers rather than reseller accounts)

If the domain is not registered in your name, then you have problems and will have to rely on good will of the registrant :(

Looks like weycrest has been found out and he's now trying to resurrect it as a new company? I recall weycrest being based in poplar and now notice they are registered in clerkenwell under that well known accomodation address.

Thanks Grant - so I did the same (effectively) contacted Nominet, and transferred over in minutes...just the new provider took a bit more time to set me up!
