Hi, we finally got around to developing www.mobileinsurance.co.uk, just gone live today. The design was done by Trevor on this forum, I think he has done a nice job.

Just looking for any feedback as I'm sure there are loads of tweaks to be done before it's finished!

    Thanks

    Scott

Very nice design. I'm not sure about the facebook and twitter buttons top AND bottom though. I can see the reasoning behind it but just doesn't feel right. Maybe make them less prominent at the bottom..? Something like the bookmark bar on this page, but within your current footer

Looks really good Scott, well done and good luck.

Some of the text however looks a little familiar? It would be nice if it could be at least re-written, Google and it's duplicate content policy and all that. It would benefit you as much as us, even if it is only on the minor pages.

Haven't really got around to the content as yet as really just been trying to get the design right. Most of the text is just 'filler' but will make sure it's all unique before we start link building etc.

Scott, I undertstand but most of us use Lorem Ipsum as filler text. As it is an indexed and ranked site I'd rather you didn't use our text. Thanks.

If you PM me exactly which page (or pages) you mean I will get it rewritten tomorrow.

    Thanks

Scott, really? Can you not just ask the person who copied them to do this?

I have to tell you which pages you have copied from us???

nice looking website, looks very professional, I was checking it out to see when it gets referred to an affiliate link, however all seems to be done within the site!

This is rubbish Scott ! What you have done is stolen text from someone elses website, and then using the 'filler' excuse as the reason why you have done it !

It makes no odds that you will "make sure it is unique before you start linkbuilding", the site is already in the Google index and Mal could suffer penalties to his own website, if the G spider revisits your website with his content on it - the site needs to be taken down ASAP and not made live until the content is uniques and your own !

Things like this really annoy me, as I have suffered first hand from someone stealing and using my content and there is no reason to do it to anyone in the first place, especially from someone claiming to have a 6 figure budget for buying websites.

    Shame on you !

I would advise blocking all search engines in the robots.txt just to make sure your not penalised nor the website copied asap

God I love this forum :-(, I ask for comments on the design of a brand new site and within a few hours I'm being slagged off. I've asked Rob where the text is similar to his so I can get it changed. It's not in my interest to have duplicate content on the site as he pointed out so it wasn't done on purpose.

There is only so much you can say differently when we are both selling the EXACT same product from the exact same company.

As anyone with SEO knowledge will tell you it won't be Rob who will be penalised if any of the content isn't unique it will be my site. If that wasn't the case people could created dozens of sites with the same content as one of there competitors to damage there rankings, I'm fairly sure Google has this covered!

Design is nice. As others have asked too, who is Trevor on the forum? :)

Regarding content, if you run the domain through www.copyscape.com you will see at a glance what you need to change.

I'm sure that if I stole a car and put a picture of it on here, asking for comments - I would get slagged off too.

If it isn't in your interest and won't cause harm, then it makes perfect sense for everyone to take the site down until it is done.

I know both your sites are selling the same product, but this is hardly any excuse to use his content, and I am sure you would be saying the same thing if it was the other way around.

You asked for a website appraisal and you got answers which you didn't like - even though you're the reason people are "slagging it off"

    If the shoe fits...

I've just spent the last half hour looking for this copied content and apart from a few lines in the FAQ's I can't find what the content he is saying is copied??

I've just ran copyscape and my site comes up with a number of other sites selling the same product. Take a look yourself and let me know if I've missed something.

Like the site, slick and fast, easy to navigate, one question 'was it expensive?'

Great job should do well with some good web promotion

I'm guessing it cost around £500?

Great looking site and great insurance rates.

Your keyfacts link doesn't work by the way.

If Trevor doesn't spot this thread I will give him a push to post his contact details. Just to state he didn't have anything to do with the content he did the design and e-commerce only. Cost a bit more than £500 to be honest but most of the cost was getting the back end talking to the credit card company etc. I'm sure just the design would have been a lot cheaper!
