Do you know what annoys me?

When people put spaces between punctuation marks like this .

And as an example , like this , and this , and this .

:)

Add on people who double line space everything, rather than just for paragraphs. It doesn't make their points any more relevant. :)

Maybe they don't know they're doing it, I don't know what double line spacing is, if I did it, I wouldn't know I was doing it, all I could guess at is that it's writing something like this.

Write something on this line..........
<leave this line blank>
<leave this line blank>
Carry on writing next line here..........

?

Don't think that's what you mean as nobody would write like that, give me an example :)

Although I call it double line spacing, what I mean is double <CR>. So they're putting a blank line between every line of text. Some seem almost frightened to continue typing so that their text automatically flows to another line automatically as part of a single multi-line paragraph.

Punctuation I agree with, and I think I know who Aaron is referring to... :p

Couldn't care less about double line spacing though unless it's completely unnecessary with literally just a few words on each line.

Neither , of

these things

bother me at all . Only

the people who broadcast, their minor

grievances on public forums, annoy me .

:)

Couldn't help myself.

And I may have got away with my bad habit - of dividing - or pausing mid sentence. From an old speech writing habit

People called Xanthe and Zebedee - or even Abraham and Adam - are probably annoyed by people called Aaron always coming ahead of them in lists sorted by first name.

I used to hate the BBC Education correspondent Mike Baker because, as correspondent for a second-division topic in the overall scheme of things, he received far more namechecks on the BBC website homepage than Premier-league journalists such as John Simpson and Michael Buerk. Thankfully - and I genuinely hope nothing has happened to him - he doesn't seem to appear so frequently these days.

As a newcomer, I'm still learning about the forum. It's good to know this is the section for trivial rambling wibble : I feel at home here !

Regards,
David (4/26 or 79/576)

Guilty of both, so sue me :p

I dare you !

You can read what I say can't you, surely you can, wink wink ;)

Personally, I find it extremely annoying that one has to leave so much whitespace in web documents, and write short sentences, because otherwise people do not absorb the information you put on the page.

It is my personal belief that the whole affair is a plot dating back to the Bush years, because George Dubya wanted everything to be on a level HE could understand ...

Don't be silly, he can't read.

People not knowing the difference between loose and lose gets on my tits. How difficult can it be.

  • Famine
  • War
  • Torture
  • Poverty
  • Injustice

are the main things that annoy me.

Punctuation and grammatical errors are a fair bit further down the list.

They don't annoy me too much, as long as they know the difference between loose teeth, or losing a leg in conflict/war/torture. I'm quite happy for all you have listed to continue in this world, as long as the reporters get the grammar and punctuation correct.

Excellent - like it :p :p

...torture isn't as stylish as it used to be. Everyone seems to be in such a hurry these days.;)
